“Learning Today ~ Leading Tomorrow”

“The Verda James community has embraced the shared vision of “empowering all learners to excel academically and socially on life’s journey.”

Through a collaborative culture and a focus on learning and results, all students will be prepared with the necessary skills and strategies to become successful and responsible citizens.

The Verda James community believes that developing the whole child is an important priority in education. Through various academic and social programs, Verda James maintains an equal balance of academic, social, and emotional growth.

Along with the best instruction in reading, writing, and math, students learn how to be safe, respectful, responsible, and nice. With shared leadership and a strong vision, students, parents, and staff are working together on a voyage to meet district and school goals.

Programs

Verda James empowers students to excel in Reading and Language Arts using the Benchmark Advance Series. With the Wyoming State Standards as their guide, students learn reading skills based on a continuum that emphasizes phonological awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. Students then apply their reading skills in quality literary and informational text at various times throughout the day. Writing is taught in all subject areas, but accentuated during the Writing block, where specific strategies and skills are taught and practiced.

Students gain an understanding of mathematical concepts using hands-on activities, problem-solving experiences, and connections between math and writing as these subjects spiral through the Eureka Math2 resources.

Verda James empowers students to excel socially by teaching and supporting positive behavior through the 4B’s, (Be Nice, Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful). In addition, Caring School Community SEL Curriculum supports all students in their social and emotional learning and the 8 Keys of Excellence will continue to support character education.
