“We Weave a Web of Learning: Capture Knowledge, Build Relationships, Connect to Community.”

Poison Spider is a K-8th school located 15 minutes west of Casper. We moved into our new facility in March 2009. Transportation is available for all students who wish to attend Poison Spider.

Poison Spider is a student-centered Professional Learning Community that is focused on student achievement. We have many co-taught classes that allow for more individualized attention for all students. The caring staff believes that every child can learn and be successful. Poison Spider provides a friendly, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students. Our students are active, hands-on learners. A tiered intervention system is in place to help students who may need extra academic help. Enrichment opportunities are available in the regular classroom.

Programs

Poison Spider uses NCSD adopted curriculum for all subjects. Poison Spider students in K-8th use the American Reading Company Core Program for English/Language Arts. All K-4th grade students in participate in a 30 minute intervention/enrichment (IE) block. Students are grouped by skill levels during this time. It is an intense, highly focused time for students to improve skills in reading, writing, or math. Agriculture is taught in seventh and eighth grade.  Band, Art, Music, STEM, and other electives are available for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. All Poison Spider students participate in the Casper Mountain Science School.

Activities

Students may participate in clubs such as Student Council, Yearbook, Robotics, History, Science, Chess, and Fitness. Fourth and fifth graders may participate in volleyball, basketball and track through the Casper Recreation Center. Students in 6th – 8th may participate in middle-level sports programs at area middle schools. Bus transportation is provided from Poison Spider to CYMS or Dean Morgan for after school sports.
