Planning With Purpose: NCSD’s Career Day Provides Students Opportunity to Explore Their Future

Throughout the day, students spent time at Pathways Innovation Center, where they had the opportunity to visit with staff while learning about courses and certification options available through the program. An extension of Natrona County’s high school system, Pathways Innovation Center is focused on preparing tomorrow’s workforce through academic, career, and technical studies by providing students with an authentic and rigorous learning environment in order to graduate productive citizens who are college, career, and military-ready. Students also had the opportunity to engage and learn from multiple community partners in attendance who shared information on the tremendous career and educational opportunities available in Natrona County and the State of Wyoming.

Intentional planning and collaboration with students and school families for student success toward and after graduation is a priority focus of Natrona County’s high school system. We had the opportunity to catch up with some students who shared their highlights from the day with us.

"I think exploring your options and learning about what is out there is important as a freshman in high school because you can start to prepare yourself for what you may be interested in." ~ Kaylee

"It's good to see what you are interested in, especially when you are young. If you find something you are really interested in, then you can learn more about it and what it would take to do that job one day." ~ Leslie

"It's good to see what classes are at PIC as a freshman because these classes are free in high school now, so you want to learn as much as you can while you aren't going into debt." ~ Ardin

"The opportunities that you can get through Pathways and this community are astronomical. There are so many certifications that you can get here, so it's important for us to be aware of them.” ~ Drew
