Summit Elementary Students Celebrate Historical Heroes with Living Wax Museum!

Students chose a historical figure they considered a hero, completed research, and then prepared for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on learning and education with their fellow students!

Students stood as 'frozen wax figures' until a fellow student would approach them, then they would come to life in character and share their insight and research on what they learned! Part of embodying their historical hero included coming up with a challenge for their fellow students to make a difference!

Olivia spent the afternoon as Hellen Keller, "I thought she was really inspiring. One of her famous quotes is, 'I won't let anything stop me.' and I think that is something everyone should remember. Even though people made fun of her, she never stopped."

Leece became Neil Armstrong. He shared, "I really like space and Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon! My challenge is to overcome your fears, just like Neil Armstrong did."

Ariah learned all about Ruby Bridges, "She is pretty much my hero because if she hadn't been brave, I might not have the chance to go to this school today. I might not know some of my friends or even be able to be friends with them." she shared, "My challenge is to be brave no matter what, and if you can try to make change."
