NCSD high school students recently participated in Manufacturing Day (MFG Day), an engaging, hands-on learning experience made possible through a partnership with Casper College and several local businesses. This incredible opportunity gave students a firsthand look at the diverse career pathways available in Casper and across Wyoming, while offering valuable industry insights, real-world connections, and opportunities to network with local professionals.
Throughout the day, students toured local manufacturing facilities, including Atlas Energy Solutions, Excal Inc., High Country Fabrication, JW Williams, Mesa Solutions, Austin Engineering, Power Service, DISA Technologies, and Wyoming Machinery. Students also explored Casper College's Engineering, Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing programs, gaining insight into the education and training opportunities available to help prepare them for successful careers.
One of the day's key takeaways was the chance for students to explore the wide variety of careers that contribute to the success of manufacturing and trades. These include sales, safety, administration, maintenance, compliance, drafting, engineering, and many others that work in unison to produce the end product.
Manufacturing (MFG) Day, an initiative of the Manufacturing Institute—the workforce development and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers—empowers manufacturers to come together and address their collective challenges and build excitement about manufacturing careers to help their communities and future generations thrive (mfgday.com).
A special THANK YOU to Casper College, Paul Brutsman, Rachel Chadderdon, Kelly Walsh High School, Natrona County High School, Roosevelt High School, Midwest Schools, NCSD Transportation, and all those who helped make this outstanding learning experience possible!
Through meaningful partnerships and real-world learning experiences like Manufacturing Day, NCSD continues to connect classroom learning with career exploration, empowering students to envision their futures and discover the possibilities waiting for them right here in Wyoming.
