Annual Heavy Metal Career and Training Day a Roaring Success!

Through hands-on experiences and guidance from professional experts, students and staff operated heavy equipment, used simulators, and explored the latest construction technology. They also had the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals to learn about career pathways, workforce needs, apprenticeships, and job opportunities within the construction and heavy civil industries.

"Being able to do this gives us more of an idea of what we want to do in the future. Some people don’t know what they want to do, so it is good to have opportunities to try things." ~ Jade

"I think this is a great opportunity for us. Getting out in the field could really open up a new window for some kids." ~ Hunter

"This was hands down the best field trip I have ever done with school, we had a blast and learned about jobs I did not know even existed" ~ Emry

"I think this opportunity lets us kind of know what we are doing when we go out into the workforce. We have an idea of what we like and what we don’t like, and get to see if there is something to have a goal towards." ~ Ferris

This incredible event and partnership highlight the importance of Career and Technical Education in preparing interested students for success beyond high school. By exposing students to high-demand careers in the skilled trades and industry, they can discover rewarding career opportunities, build real-world skills, and make informed decisions about their futures while strengthening Wyoming’s workforce.

A special thanks to Oftedal Construction for leading this event each year, as well as to those who supplied equipment and trainers - Wyoming Machinery Company, RDO Equipment Company, Komatsu Equipment, Trans Source Truck and Equipment, Mobile Concrete, Eastern Wyoming College, and all others whose support made this event a terrific learning opportunity for students.
