Kelly Walsh High School Students Recognized for Strategic Innovation in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge!

January 9, 2026

Earning second place for Wyoming, Arjit Bhavsar designed an innovative app, Teen Mental Health Guide, to educate teenagers about mental health development. The app provides facts on mental health and includes interactive quizzes to reinforce learning, with the goal of improving teens’ understanding and supporting their everyday well-being.

Benjamin Hutchinson earned third place for Wyoming with his intuitive app, Grapher. Designed to take a formula and generate a graph showing ratios, Benjamin’s app responds to user needs, allowing them to adjust the position, scale, and size of the graph.

KWHS computer science educator Becky Byer was honored with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in acknowledgment of her dedication to inspiring students and her long-standing involvement in the Congressional App Challenge. Ms. Byer’s commitment and passion for encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and exploration through computer science are evident in the continued success of KWHS students and the many years of statewide Congressional App Challenge success.

The Congressional App Challenge, hosted annually by the U.S. House of Representatives, encourages students to learn to code while inspiring them to excel in computer science. Students develop and utilize their innovative technology skills to creatively design an original app submitted to a prestigious panel of judges. Congresswoman Harriet Hageman's staff presented the KWHS students and Ms. Byer with their well-earned awards, recognizing their creativity, ingenuity, and commitment to educational excellence.

Kelly Walsh High School is committed to preparing all students for their next step by creating high expectations, academic rigor, and personal responsibility.

Congratulations, Trojans, on your exceptional success!
