Walking Together: Jae Boots and the Power of Connection, Resilience, and Community.

September 25, 2025

Last year, the Class of 2025 was gifted a pair of Jae Boots while receiving a message on mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and resilience. As part of NCSD’s ongoing commitment to creating safe, supportive learning environments and promoting student well-being, we are honored to continue our partnership with the Jae Foundation through its High School Senior Boot Initiative, with the Class of 2026.

The initiative encourages open and honest conversations about mental health, helping students build the confidence and language to reach out when they need support and to be there for others as well. One of the most impactful outcomes has been the student-led creation of a Boot-Check culture within our high schools. Seniors are challenged to "take the reins" by bringing what they’ve learned back to their peers and encouraging regular check-ins, honest dialogue, and promoting a school culture of care and connection.

The Jae Foundation’s mission is to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention through a unique platform that Jae cherished: Cowboy Boots. Each pair of Jae Boots symbolizes more than just footwear; they represent a conversation, a “BootCheck” moment, and an opportunity to connect. In a world where discussing mental health can be challenging, these boots help foster a supportive community and encourage open dialogue. The High School Senior Boot Initiative, a key program of the Jae Foundation, partners with high schools in sponsored counties across Idaho and Wyoming. “During this transformational experience, our leaders get each student their Jae Boots, share that they are loved and valued, have a bold conversation about mental health, and ask these students to commit to reaching out if they are ever in need of help. This initiative has had a profound impact on these seniors and their respective school cultures.” ~ Jae Foundation (www.jaefoundation.com

Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, donors, and the Jae Foundation for your work in bringing this impactful program to Natrona County. It's Boot-Check Time.
