Casper FFA students, Carter Cox, Madi Dickinson, Emmy Hornecker, and Garrett Burkett, demonstrated their superior livestock judging talents, placing 4th at the National FFA Convention. This tremendous success earned them the opportunity of a lifetime, an invitation to spend two weeks judging livestock in Scotland and Ireland.
Embarking on this exciting educational experience with their coach, Heath Hornecker, the team began at the Royal Highland Show in Scotland, where they learned about animal breeds they had never seen before, adjusted to new contest procedures, and adapted to different standards of evaluation. During the competition, the team judged native livestock breeds and worked with members of Scotland's Young Farmers Association. Through this collaboration and valuable learning experience, the Casper FFA students went on to become the high-scoring livestock judging team at the Carleville Agricultural Show in Ireland.
“These students not only represented our FFA Chapter and NCHS with excellence, but also our district, the state of Wyoming, and the United States on an international stage,’ shared Casper FFA Advisor Timi Reynolds, ‘I couldn’t be more proud of their dedication, adaptability, and their success.”
FFA chapters across the district provide exceptional opportunities for students to engage in community service, grow their leadership skills, and learn more about all aspects of the agriculture industry. The mission of the Casper FFA Chapter follows that of FFA, “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.” Throughout the year, students work dedicatedly to excel as chapters, teams, and individuals with livestock evaluation competitions, individual competitions, and various other team and community service projects.
Congratulations, students, on your outstanding success!
