Similar to a student council, PULSE provides students with the opportunity to lead engaging initiatives, plan events, and create lasting memories for students, staff, and their families.
PULSE members are the driving force behind many of the school’s creative and memorable events, including the Halloween Haunted House, Christmas Party, Thanksgiving Lunch, and Prom. They take charge of planning everything—from decorations and food to music and activities. One of the club’s standout projects, “The Hot Ones,” involves interviewing teachers while they eat increasingly spicy wings. This project builds school spirit while building upon student and staff connections. Students in PULSE also spend a majority of their time participating in and organizing school-wide community outreach initiatives, such as Meals on Wheels and weekly recycling efforts.
"PULSE has taught me leadership, time management, respect, kindness," shared Nathaniel. Responsibility for yourself, your school, and community is a priority focus of the club while helping students develop stronger time management skills and a deeper understanding of what it means to contribute to a greater cause. “We are a group of people that can help make the school better and show how much the school is capable of.”
Focusing on events and initiatives that promote positivity, strong character, effective communication, and school pride, students develop confidence in their communication skills, engage in teamwork, lead with kindness, and learn to manage real-world responsibilities. This experience allows them to grow and excel as student leaders, supporting their success and preparing them for life after graduation.
Club President, Eddie, appreciates the collective student voice and perspective PULSE provides students while encouraging personal growth, “PULSE makes your high school experience just more fun. The people skills and leadership skills I am learning and being more confident with myself are definitely going to help in the future with getting jobs and getting into schools.”
Joining PULSE is an opportunity for students to expand their academic and personal success in a welcoming environment where their ideas are valued and their efforts matter. RHS senior, Chase, appreciates the collaboration as a team and its positive impact on his future endeavors, “Being a part of PULSE is a great way to get used to working as a team. Later in life, that definitely comes up a lot more. But it also gets you more confident in yourself and expressing your ideas and thoughts to people.”
“With PULSE and working to become a leader, I have really tried to get other people’s ideas and listen to them and make sure others hear what they have said,” shared Emmy. Through friendship, teamwork, and leadership, PULSE encourages excellence among students. “PULSE is actually the heartbeat of the school. Everything that we do is keeping the school and students going,” Emmy reflected proudly. With every initiative and student voice uplifted, PULSE keeps the beat of RHS strong and steady—one idea, one memory, and one Bulldog at a time.
