Natrona County School District Statement Regarding Career and Technical Education

The Natrona County School District appreciates and shares the community’s strong commitment and passion for Career and Technical Education (CTE).

We have received inquiries from stakeholders about shared information on the future of CTE programming and its perceived importance to NCSD. We respectfully seek to clarify some inaccuracies in the information provided to some community members.

The Natrona County School District is not eliminating Pathways Innovation Center, CTE programs, robotics, or manufacturing. Additionally, CTE educators are not being cut from the Natrona County School District.

As part of our high school system, we strategically evaluate and manage all course offerings to ensure staffing, funding, and resources are aligned with student interest and enrollment trends across Kelly Walsh High School, Natrona County High School, Roosevelt High School, and Midwest School.

In 2025-2026, there will be some changes to the names of programs; however, no programs of study have been eliminated. Program name changes are being made to align with the modernized National CTE Career Clusters framework. These changes are being made by CTE programs across the state.

Adjustments to course offerings for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year at Pathways Innovation Center are being made in order to provide more opportunities for future growth across the district.

The District has worked closely with the Wyoming Department of Education to ensure compliance with the federal Perkins V funding guidelines. The suggestion that we are intentionally underutilizing funds to avoid compliance is inaccurate.

An extension of Natrona County’s high school system, Pathways Innovation Center remains a premier facility for CTE across the state and is a point of celebration for NCSD. We remain committed to strategic evaluation to explore ways to increase its utilization and program offerings in alignment with student interests.

Career & Technical Education continues to be a valuable opportunity for students who wish to take advantage of the elective courses to meet graduation requirements in NCSD. CTE courses are a valued part of our partnership with Casper College, where more than 50% of concurrent BOCES courses are CTE courses.

NCSD remains fully committed to supporting all students in their interests and academic success while preparing them for graduation and their future goals.
