From the Classroom to the Community: NCHS Army JROTC Committed to Leadership and Excellence

Founded in 1914, the Mustang Battalion is dedicated to motivating young people to become responsible citizens. The Army JROTC program offers students valuable opportunities through teams to develop leadership skills, serve their community, and practice goal-setting.

Their commitment to excellence has earned the Mustang Battalion Rifle Team state championships and esteemed national recognition for both the Sporter and Precision level teams. Students work hard to continually enhance their marksmanship and excel in three-position air rifle competitions.

The Drill Team represents the Mustang Battalion and NCHS, demonstrating precision and showmanship at drill competitions where they compete in armed, unarmed, color guard, and exhibition categories. The team also proudly presents the colors at sporting events, military signing days, naturalization ceremonies, and other community events.

Recognized for firing the cannon at home football games, Memorial Day ceremonies, and special other events, the Living History Team participates in many school-based and community events to help celebrate and honor others. Additionally, these knowledgeable students dedicate their time to honoring military history and traditions by providing educational presentations for the community and their peers.

The Mustang Raider Team is dedicated to enhancing their physical fitness and mental resilience, which they demonstrate during the annual Casper Marathon and other competitions nationwide. These competitions involve shooting, running, orienteering, and military-related contests. Being part of these opportunities through Army JROTC allows students to enhance their public speaking skills, improve their focus and discipline, and develop leadership abilities while building meaningful connections with their peers.

Natrona County High School is committed to preparing responsible, lifelong learners who value themselves, contribute to society, and succeed in an ever-changing world.
