NCSD Inclement Weather Protocol Reminder

NCSD's Inclement weather team is actively monitoring the incoming winter weather system. We are working in collaboration with community agencies, including the City of Casper, the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Natrona County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, Natrona County Road and Bridge, and others.

It is anticipated this incoming winter weather system may impact various parts of the county differently throughout the next few days.

Natrona County School District recognizes that the operation of school is an important and necessary part of community and family life. As a result, schools will be closed for inclement weather only when the community itself is unable to operate safely. The primary factors considered are anticipated or current weather conditions and the safe transportation of students and staff.

We wanted to share with you a reminder of NCSD's Inclement Weather Protocol.

We will actively monitor weather conditions throughout the week. In the event of inclement weather affecting normal school operations, text and phone calls are sent to parents/guardians and staff members by approx. 5:30 am. Updates and information are also shared on the official NCSD Facebook page, the NCSD website, and with media partners.

As always, the primary responsibility and decision to protect a child's health and to ensure school attendance always resides with the parent or guardian.

Important Information for Incoming Kindergarten Families for 2023-2024

Ready...Set...Go! Do you have an incoming Kindergarten student for the 2023-2024 school year?

The Natrona County School District is excited to work together with school families as they prepare for their child's next steps toward Kindergarten.

Families of incoming kindergarten students for the 2023-2024 school year should go online NOW to complete the online information process for a NEW Kindergarten student. By completing STEP ONE now, Kindergarten families will be prepared for the upcoming School Choice Registration process.

Kindergarten Screenings: Once you have a Parent Portal account, please log into your account to SIGN-UP for your child's Kindergarten Screening!

We believe school readiness is an important foundation for a child's successful academic journey. Kindergarten Screenings are opportunities for teachers and families to work together to prepare students for a fun, engaging, and successful educational experience. The Kindergarten Screening provides NCSD with information so we can prepare classrooms, resources, and opportunities to meet the educational needs of all incoming Kindergarten students. The screening is one way to determine the child's readiness for school while providing families with more information and resources to prepare for the upcoming school year.

School Choice Registration is December 28th, 2022, through January 20th, 2023. This process will be completed through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. More information will be provided on School Choice Registration for families soon!
