About our school

Midwest School is the Natrona County School District’s only preK-12th grade school. The 200-plus students at the school come from Linch, Edgerton, Midwest, Gas Plant, Antelope Hills, Homa Hills, Bar Nunn and Casper. The uniqueness of Midwest gives it the reputation of being the “family school.” Bus transportation is available to and from Midwest at several locations within the district. A wide variety of educational services are available on all levels.
Elementary Program
Midwest offers a half-day preschool, a full-day kindergarten and a preschool through sixth-grade elementary program. Class sizes are small, and the school offers a high level of student-teacher interaction. The diverse needs of students are met through combination classes, special classes such as swimming, PE, music, art and technology, an elementary at-risk program and certified Title I teachers in reading and math.
Midwest is a Reading First school with an emphasis in reading and the acquisition of skills that will develop successful learners.
Secondary Program
Seventh- through 12th-graders have access to a full battery of core and elective courses, swimming instruction and a new reading program. Students learn in small classes and have access to after-school tutoring and the Bridges Program, which develops basic skills in math and language arts.
Services
Students at Midwest have access to special education services at both the elementary and secondary level, as well as a counselor four-days a week, at-risk interventions. The school is home to a fully-staffed, updated library.  The distance learning lab also is available for students to earn alternative and advanced high school credits.
