About our school
Kelly Walsh believes in an atmosphere of caring and respect. In the words of Principal Brad Diller, “Kelly Walsh is not about the bricks and concrete. That’s not what makes our school special. It’s about the people who show up here every day.”
Our staff
Students at Kelly Walsh learn from 81 regular education teachers, nine special education teachers and specialists that include tutors, librarians, counselors, social workers, psychologists, college and career coaches and art, music and PE teachers.
Our curriculum
Kelly Walsh offers a wide variety of classes at all levels. The school has a strong Advanced Placement (AP) program, as well as honors, advanced and dual credit classes.
AP courses are available in English, French, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, statistics, calculus, computer science, biology, chemistry, physics, world history, U.S. history, U.S. government/political science and psychology.
Students also may study career and technical topics, including accounting, animation, business, CISCO networking, computer applications, marketing, personal finance, Web page design, graphic arts, broadcasting, auto mechanics, drafting and computer aided drawing, architectural drawing, fire science, welding, wood working and construction.
Students also have a range of options in family and consumer science classes, including interior design, fashion design, foods, catering, child development, child care services, family life and life management.
Arts are an important part of the curriculum, as well, with courses available in digital photography, drawing and painting, 3D design, drama, stagecraft, film/television, band, jazz band, guitar, percussion, concert choir, cantabile, a cappella, encore, orchestra, chamber orchestra, music theory and music honors symposium.
The Kelly Walsh special education program offers a variety of services and opportunities for students with individual education plans. Students are in every capacity, ranging from inclusion to separate environments, based on their individual needs.
Our activities
Students at Kelly Walsh have access to a breakfast and lunch program, a functional life skills class and daycare for approved students.
Students also may participate in a huge variety of clubs and activities, including art club, athletic training, band, catering, cheerleading, Close-Up, dancers, DECA, drama, forensics, French club, German club, Latin club, National Honor Society, orchestra, peer advocates, football, basketball, volleyball, track, swimming, Nordic ski, Alpine ski, gymnastics, golf, tennis, soccer, cross-country, wrestling, student council, student senate and yearbook and newspaper.
Many classes and activities also offer special annual trips to local, statewide and national competitions.
Our families
Kelly Walsh families are encouraged to take advantage of several ways to get involved with the school. Parents may join the district’s Parent Advisory Council, the Kelly Walsh Booster Club, the Quarterback Club or school improvement committees.
All parents are encouraged to be involved with their students’ education and to be part of the school learning community.
