About our school

Casper Classical Academy grew out of the expansion of its “sister school,” Fort Caspar Academy. In 2005, CCA was awarded with the NCLB Blue Ribbon School Award, based on standardized state assessment scores.
CCA believes that the student will succeed with the support of both an excellent staff and involved parents. Students are given a structured environment in which to learn an academically challenging curriculum. Parents are expected to support their children in their endeavors while at CCA.
The school’s goal is to teach every learner to reach his or her academic potential and to ultimately become a responsible citizen who can communicate effectively.
A student who is enrolled at Casper Classical Academy will succeed if he or she:
* is motivated and aspires to attain his or her potential.
* has a parent or guardian willing to be involved and supportive of school policies and procedures.
* exhibits positive character qualities.
* will take the time required to accomplish his or her daily goals and to maintain standards of neatness and accuracy to produce quality work.
Our staff
Students at CCA learn from six full-time and nine part-time regular education teachers. Students also have access to special education, art, band, orchestra, choir and PE teachers, a tutor, a counselor from Central Wyoming Counseling Center, a social worker and an instructional facilitator.
Our curriculum
Casper Classical Academy follows a classical, college-preparatory curriculum approved by the governing council of the school’s parent-teacher organization. While district and state standards are adhered to closely, the curriculum is enhanced with additional content that reinforced the classical theme.
Every subject area sets high expectations for CCA students. Character development and the arts and humanities are integrated into each core subject. The curriculum is rich in classical literature and students take at least two years of Latin.
A classical education includes:
* Studying western civilization and history
* Studying classical literature
* Studying traditional subjects, including logic and Latin
* Emphasizing heavily writing and analytical reading.
CCA is based upon the Trivium, which includes three stages:
* Grammar (usually kindergarten to sixth grade) -- acquisition of basic skills and information
* Logic (about seventh and eighth grade) -- begin to look for patterns and relationships; take the information learned in the grammar stage and apply it or connect it with new information.
* Rhetoric (ninth through 12th grade) -- articulate beliefs and try to convince others of well-developed arguments.
Our activities
CCA students have access to most teachers for before-school tutoring starting at 7:15 a.m. and after-school tutoring until 3:20 p.m. A homework lab also is available after school Monday through Thursday.
Students may participate in Latin club, yearbook club, robotics, Brain Bowl, spelling club, National Junior Honor Society, jazz band, show choir, student council and the Geography Bee. Sports are not offered at CCA, but students can participate in sports at any other middle school in the Natrona County School District.
Our families
All CCA parents are considered part of CCA’s parent-teacher organization, which meets once a month. All parents are expected to attend two PTO meetings during the year. A group of parents also is elected by the parent body to represent families on the school’s governing council, which runs PTO meetings.
Parents also are encouraged to volunteer when the school seeks help.
