About our school
Oregon Trail is a traditional K-6 school with high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
Our staff
Oregon Trail students learn from 18 teachers with an average experience of about 15 years. About 80 percent of the teachers have earned master’s degrees. One Oregon Trail teacher has earned National Board Certification. Students also have access to tutors, a counselor and a social worker.
Our curriculum
Oregon Trail uses Saxon Math, a program that teaches math skills systematically and, starting in 2007-08, has a renewed focus on problem-solving and communication of math concepts.
The school uses McGraw Hill reading curriculum and Writing Without Tears.
Enrichment opportunities are available for students in grades two through six. Spanish instruction is available for all grade levels.
A Summer Bridges program offers students a chance to catch-up in subjects where they struggle.
Special education students are included in many classes, with pullout sessions for areas where they need more specialized help. A special education Learning Center also is available at the school.
Students also have regular art, PE and music classes, as well as access to strings and band instruction.
Our activities
Classes at Oregon Trail run from 8:55 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Before school programs include a homework lab, early-bird reading, math club, Lego Robotics and history club.
Each year, fourth-graders look forward to an overnight trip to South Pass, and sixth-graders go to Eliich Garden amusement park.
