Nurses

NCSD Nurses Mission: To promote the health and well being of all learners through their educational journey.

School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management, self advocacy and learning. (NASN School Nurse Role)

We provide nursing care in our buildings with 20 full-time Bachelor's or Master's prepared professional nurses. Secondary schools have full time nurses assigned to their buildings and we try to have no more than two buildings assigned to elementary nurses. There are several elementary schools with full time nurses. Please check with your school of choice for availability of nursing coverage.

School Nurses provide prevention education, trauma care, acute care and care to students with chronic conditions. Please see the following attachments for protocols and procedures instituted in our district.
