Manor Heights students learn math through the Bridges and Connected Math programs. The programs provide hands-on activities, problem-solving experiences and connections between math and writing for all students. The Balanced Literacy framework focuses on small group, guided instruction tailored specifically to students’ needs. The reading program focuses on both teacher-guided and individual interest to foster a love of reading. All students learn through a combined writing approach of 6+1 Traits of Writing and a unit of student writing curriculum. Manor Heights is in the process of implementing the Response to Intervention model of special education. Progress monitoring student performance and utilizing student focus meetings guide the instructional practices. The school also is
home to the district center for all elementary Intensive Life Skill students. Manor Heights also has two BASS programs, one for students in kindergarten through third grade and one for students in grades four through six. |
