New kindergartens built, enrollment numbers increase

Five new kindergarten classrooms were opened over the summer, demonstrating the fact that enrollment numbers are up and going!
The official 10-day enrollment counts were released last month. As of Sept. 4, the 11th day of school:
* Grades kindergarten through six have a total of 5,609 students, which is up 161 students from last year.
* Grades six (middle school level) through 12 have a total of 5,957 students, which is down 41 students from last year.
Kindergarten numbers increased by 45 students this year, which created the need for new classrooms!
Two kindergarten classrooms were opened at Pineview, one at Cottonwood, one at Paradise Valley and one at Mountain View.
Mrs. Axt, at Mountain View, teaches her new kindergarten class about words that begin with “h.”
