Our curriculum
Students at Grant will begin a new math program, Everyday Math, in 2007-08. The program is aligned to state standards and offers students an opportunity to work collaboratively and creatively to solve math problems in interactive situations.
Grant is a Reading First school. In reading, students study all types of literature and read in small, ability-level groups to improve their skills.
Students also write daily using the 6+1 Traits of Writing program in every subject area.
Students have regular math, art and PE classes, as well as access to a Gifted and Talented program.
The needs of special education students are addressed through their individual education plans. Grant makes an effort to address special education students’ needs in the regular education setting, and those in need of more specialized instruction are assisted in the resource room.
Summer school also is available for students.
Grant also offers a preschool for students ages 3 to 5, based on academic and economic needs.
