About us

CY, the home of the Cyclones, is named for the famous cattle brand used by early Wyoming pioneer rancher J.M. Carey.
The school is looking forward to new prospects, with a new 130,000-square-foot building currently being sited and designed. Staff and students are tentatively scheduled to move into their new home in 2010. (Follow the construction process on the NCSD Facilities Blog.)
CY Junior High offers interdisciplinary core teams, which create small learning communities for students. These communities help students transition from elementary to middle school and increase home-school communication. They allow teams of teachers to be more responsive to the needs of young adolescents and help students become more connected to the school through their team.
In addition to creating a safe, caring and engaging environment, academic rigor is a primary focus of all students. CY offers the Summit Program, which is designed for the high-achieving middle school student. CY students also enjoy and excel in the full complement of athletics and other cocurricular activities.
