CY Junior High is set up in a core format. This format allows students to participate in a community setting. A core will have the same "core subject" (English, math, science, social studies) teachers. When students take their elective classes (P.E., technology, fine arts), they combine the different cores to fit each students' schedule. The core format gives students a chance to bond socially with individuals their own age and provides a "safe" place for students to socialize.
Elective offerings include wood technology, metal technology, digital photography, computer applications, orchestra, jazz band, vocal music, flute choir, band, art, Spanish, French, ROTC, agriculture and drama.
Students also have access to the CY Summit Program, designed to challenge academic high achievers.
